FORTNITE SEASON 8 REVIEW

It's time for Fortnite Season 8! Yeah, season eight. This game is still going. Well, let's just dive right into the review.

THE BASICS

Here's the Season 8 mini map:

Wow! We have the third biome change for this map, leaving only one corner unchanged. The new biome is a jungle, featuring many interesting locations like the Volcano and Lazy Lagoon. Personally I prefer what was there before (Lazy Links and Wailing Woods), but Sunny Steps and everything here is still pretty cool.

This season also had some really interesting mid-season changes, like the dig sites appearing all over the map, and the big metal vault within Loot Lake being revealed.

Here's Season 8's loot pool:

Season 8 has a lot of interesting new weapons and items. There's the Treasure Map that lets you find legendary chests across the map, the Shadow Bomb that allows you to double-jump and wall-jump, and the Flint-Knock Pistol that pushes you away when you fire. There are also some less interesting new features, like the Poison Dart Trap. But hey, the Boom Bow is cool.

THE GAMEPLAY

Season 8 has brought two key new features: the Cannon and the Baller. The Cannon just lets you fire yourself across the map, but the Baller is one of the most fun vehicles yet. It's a Jurassic Park style ball with a grappler on the end. It's quite balanced as it breaks easily, holds only one player and you cannot use items or fire weapons while in it. Good stuff.

THE COSMETICS

Season 8 has some cool skins, like the funny Peely from the battle pass and some Item Shop skins like Dream and Inferno. Cool stuff!

THE EVENT

Season 8's event saw the vault in Loot Lake open, where we could all vote to unvault an item (we chose the Drum Gun), and then the big scary volcano erupted, decimating Titled Towers, Retail Row and leaving a big crack in Polar Peak. This was a pretty great event, yeah.

CONCLUSION

Season 8 was pretty cool, yeah. I think this will be one of the seasons that people feel nostalgic for in the future, thanks in part to the lack of game-breaking features (looking at you, Season 7). Good stuff.

SEASON RATING: 8/10

Well, I'm gonna go give Season 9 a try. Let's do this.
