FORTNITE SEASON 5 REVIEW [CHAPTER 2]

Season 5 of Fortnite Chapter 2 has arrived. This new season kicks the game's storyline into overdrive and is an exciting and refreshing for the game. Let's dive into The Loop with my review of Fortnite Chapter 2 - Season 5: Zero Point.

SEASON 5: THE BASICS

Here is the Chapter 2 - Season 5 Map:

This season features the first major new biome of the chapter: a massive desert has appeared in the middle of the map, with the Zero Point in the very centre. There's the mash-up of Salty Towers and the interesting new Hunter's Haven and Colossal Coliseum.

Here is the Chapter 2 - Season 5 base loot pool:

I love the loot pool this season. There's the new Lever Action Shotgun which is super fun to use, along with the new high-power specialty Exotic weapons that you purchase from NPCs around the map.

Oh, and there's the Mandalorian mythic items that I barely use, which are cool, I guess.

SEASON 5: GAMEPLAY

Chapter 2 Season 5 brings a ton of new features, from Bars and Bounties to Characters to Sand Tunnelling and Zero Point Crystals. These are all great changes to the game dynamic, and I really hope that Bars in particular stick around for future seasons.

Unfortunately Sand Tunnelling was disabled for weeks at a time and could be annoying when it did actually work, but it was a cool concept to say the least.

SEASON 5: COSMETICS

Season 5 has brought a lot of brand new cosmetics to the island. This season saw more collab outfits than ever, including the incredible Halo and Street Fighter outfits.

My favourite skins this season are the Battle Pass' Mancake and The Mandalorian, the collaboration Master Chief outfit and the February Fortnite Crew's Vi.

SEASON 5: ISSUES

I have three issues with Season 5: the length, the collabs and the glitches. This season felt much longer than usual, running from early December all the way through mid-March. Personally I'd prefer if Fortnite seasons went back down to 10 weeks like Chapter 1, or found a good balance like 12 weeks. 15+ weeks is simply too long.

This season also felt like it focused more on licensing characters to be in the game than creating interesting updates, and as mentioned previously the Sand Tunnelling feature was disabled due to glitches, which was disappointing.

SEASON 5: CREATIVE

This new segment is dedicated to Creative Mode. I haven't really mentioned Creative since it launched in Chapter 1 Season 7, but this season I found myself really starting to gravitate towards it. Just building whatever I want using props, builds and mechanics from Fortnite is so much fun.

Season 5 was really good for Creative, finally giving us long-awaited locations like Lazy Links, Greasy Grove, Motel, and The Agency, and some interesting features like larger islands. Great season for Creative overall.

CONCLUSION

Chapter 2 Season 5 feels like a middle-of-the-road season. It's not terrible but it's not great either. Not sure how I'd rate it against the other Chapter 2 seasons, but I prefer it over Season 4 sooo there's that.

SEASON RATING: 7/10

Now it's time for the Zero Crisis Finale. Here we go!
