FORTNITE SEASON 4 REVIEW [CHAPTER 2]

Oh man, I sure do hope the next season is a big ad!

Well, hypothetical person, Fortnite Chapter 2 - Season 4: Nexus War is for you! Here's my review.

SEASON 4: THE BASICS

Here is the Chapter 2 - Season 4 Map:

Season 4's map is alright. The only problem is that, besides Fortnitemares' The Ruins, every POI and Landmark added is from the Marvel universe. It takes a lot away from the unique feel of Fortnite.

The addition of the autumn biome with Stark Industries is neat, but the height difference between it and the rest of the map makes navigating it pretty difficult.

Here is the Chapter 2 - Season 4 base loot pool:

Season 4's loot pool is completely overcrowded with Marvel superpower items. In fact, every item added was from the Marvel comics - with the exception of Shadow Midas' Drum Gun, which is just a reskin of a mythic from Chapter 2 Season 2. Still, the unique aspect of the Stark Energy Rifle (where aiming down sights makes the fire rate slower but the damage higher) makes it an interesting weapon.

SEASON 4: GAMEPLAY

Chapter 2 Season 4 didn't really do anything new, except add a boatload of Marvel Superpowers. They're okay, I guess. I have nothing more to say, this season has been quite poor.

SEASON 4: COSMETICS

To the surprise of nobody, Season 4 had a ton of Marvel cosmetics. There were some neat ones though! Iron Man in particular is a really cool skin. More neat outfits are the customisable superhero Boundless set, as well as the Chapter 1 Defaults. Great season for cosmetics - and Marvel was there, too.

SEASON 4: LIVE EVENT

This season had a live event, The Devourer of Worlds, which featured Marvel's Galactus trying to consume the Zero Point (which is finally back!). Luckily, we stopped him and have been treated to a teaser of Agent Jonesy waking up in a crumbling office.

Not my favourite event, but pretty hype nonetheless. Here's my event rankings now:

  1. The Device

  2. The End

  3. The Devourer of Worlds

  4. The Final Showdown

  5. The Unvaulting

SEASON 4: ISSUES

I've made my issues with this season clear. Season 4 was very Marvel-centric, and I really didn't like it. I like Marvel and the MCU, but I want Fortnite to stay mostly original. This was quite a disappointing one in that regard.

CONCLUSION

Chapter 2 Season 4 was not a good season for me. Fortnite seemed to let Marvel take control for this one, as long as Marvel kept pumping the money into Epic's account.

SEASON RATING: 5/10

I look forward to Season 5, and pray that it's different. Good luck out there, Jonesy.
