FORTNITE SEASON 3 REVIEW [CHAPTER 2]

The third season of Fortnite's rebooted game ends next week, so as always I'm back to give my review of the season. This is Fortnite Chapter 2 - Season 3: Splashdown.

SEASON 3: THE BASICS

Here is the Chapter 2 - Season 3 map:

I really loved the Season 3 map when the season launched. The high water level is really fun for rotation and just playing the game, and there are a ton of new locations that are enjoyable to land at and explore, such as The Fortilla and The Authority.

Unfortunately, by the end of the season the map is basically the Season 1 map again. All of the spy locations are either destroyed or completely removed, and the later addition of Coral Castle was underwhelming.

Here is the Chapter 2 - Season 3 base loot pool:

Season 3's loot pool is really good. I like the removal of the Pump Shotgun and introduction of the Charge Shotgun and more mythic items like the Shockwave Launcher and the Glider Gun.

Unfortunately, there was a very little amount of updates to the loot pool throughout the season. It makes sense to not make many updates, with the [current world event] still ongoing, however an item unvault or two would've been nice.

SEASON 3: GAMEPLAY

Chapter 2 Season 3 introduces Fire effects, which are really fun to play with (although not as fun to go up against). There is also the first ever AI animal in the Loot Shark, which honestly got pretty annoying after a while. They were frankly terrifying at the start of the season.

Later on, Season 3 has brought the Joy Ride Update, which brings drivable cars, racing cars, trucks, pick-up trucks and taxis to the game. These vehicles are awesome and I love driving them around the map, especially the "Whiplash" race car.

SEASON 3: COSMETICS

Season 3 has been amazing for cosmetics, with a ton of original, creative, unique outfits introduced into the game. I'm going to list of some highlights of mine: Jules from the Battle Pass, the Double Agent Pack skins, and the Item Shop's Splatterella.

SEASON 3: SAVE THE WORLD

I rarely mention the Save the World PvE mode in my reviews, and this may be the last time I do for some time. This season, the entire game finally left Beta, but Save the World did not become free and will not receive regular updates in the future. It's a real shame that Epic have decided to effectively abandon their original game because Battle Royale is the money-maker.

CONCLUSION

Chapter 2 Season 3 was a pretty good season. It was fun and it wasn't too long (unlike the previous two), but is dragged down somewhat by the lack of new content and the effective cancellation of the Save the World mode.

SEASON RATING: 8/10

The cars are cool though!
