FORTNITE PRIMAL REVIEW [C2S6]

Oh man. This one wasn't great.

Well, Season 6 of Fortnite Chapter 2 has come to a close. Time to look over it's ups and (mostly) downs, I guess. This is my review of Chapter 2 Season 6: Primal.

SEASON 6: THE BASICS

Here is the Chapter 2 - Season 6 Map:

There were some amazing map changes this time around, with the Primal biome adding a much-needed splash of colour to the Island. The mysterious Spire gives a good vantage point over the entire map, and other POIs like Boney Burbs and Colossal Crops are fun changes to Season 5's locations.

Here is the Chapter 2 - Season 6 base loot pool:

This season's loot pool is... pretty bad. The majority of weapons you find are Makeshift, which are super weak and not good in any battle. They are far outclassed by the Primal series of weapons, including the completely overpowered Primal Shotgun. Oh, and it used to be worse - a Legendary Primal Shotgun now is as strong as the Rare Primal Shotgun when the season launched.

However, I do enjoy the Bows and I'm glad the classic (or Mechanical) weapons are still available through crafting. My personal favourite weapons this season have been the Mechanical Shockwave Bow and Mechanical Explosive Bow.

SEASON 6: GAMEPLAY

Chapter 2 Season 6 introduces Crafting. It's a cool feature, but I think it was executed pretty poorly. You have to break up mechanical objects or hunt animals to get crafting materials, and then you're limited in what you can create. There's certainly room for improvement, but I like the concept here.

Also new is Wildlife, adding Chickens, Frogs, Wolves, Boar and Raptors to the map. The predators can get pretty annoying at times but it helps the world feel much more alive and they're all a good source of crafting materials and heals.

SEASON 6: COSMETICS

Chapter 2 Season 6 had a ton of interesting and cool cosmetics. The focus on original outfits was a refreshing change after the collab-heavy Seasons 4 and 5. My personal favourites are the long-awaited Agent Jones, along with Lara Croft from the Battle Pass. I also like the FNCS 2:6 skin The Champion (which regrettably I decided against purchasing).

SEASON 6: LIVE EVENT

For the first time, this season started with a live event. The first-ever solo event Zero Crisis. This event saw the introduction of the fourth member of The Seven, The Foundation, as he teamed up with Jones to save all reality and seal off the Zero Point. The event also had the largest live map changes ever, as an entire biome and several POIs were formed in the blink of an eye.

I think this is my new favourite event for sure. Here's my event rankings now:

  1. Zero Crisis

  2. The Device

  3. The End

  4. The Devourer of Worlds

  5. The Final Showdown

SEASON 6: ISSUES

Season 6 has had a series of issues, from the incredibly unbalanced meta to the rather lacking updates to the heavily flawed crafting system. This season overall has been a downgrade from Season 5, which is a shame.

SEASON 6: CREATIVE

Chapter 2 Season 6 was ironically the best season so far for Creative, whilst being the worst for BR. Mechanics that people have been wanting for a very long time have finally been added, such as Cars and the Choppa, the ability to Save game progress, and the new XL Island format that FINALLY lets players use more memory on some maps.

CONCLUSION

Chapter 2 Season 6 has absolutely been my least favourite season of the chapter so far. I'm quite disappointed in this one and I'm really hoping the game doesn't continue to go downhill with Season 7.

SEASON RATING: 3/10

Well, aliens are coming so let's blast off into Season 7 next week. See you soon!
