FORTNITE INVASION REVIEW [C2S7]

Fortnite's seventeenth season has arrived, bringing aliens, collabs galore and more chaos with it. It's time for my latest Fortnite review, this time of Chapter 2 - Season 7: Invasion.

The IO's Doctor Slone is planning to detonate the Mothership that hovers above the Island. Let's jump in.

SEASON 7: THE BASICS

Here is the Chapter 2 - Season 7 Map:

The map changes this time are rather disappointing. Most of the changes, such as the POI Abductions, were interesting at first but eventually made those locations worse. Examples of this are The Aftermath (from The Spire) and Sludgy Swamp (from Slurpy Swamp). The Primal biome was also removed, making the map boring and green.

Here is the Chapter 2 - Season 7 base loot pool:

This season's loot pool is amazing. There are tons of fun and exciting items to use like the Rail Gun and Ray Gun, and throughout the season more fun weapons and items like the Grabitron and Propifier were added. Many of the items are split into two factions: IO and Alien. They both have their pros and cons but overall they're all really solid - well, the Pulse Rifle is a little underwhelming, but the rest is good.

Personal highlights for me include the super-strong Rail Gun and the fun-to-use Alien Nanites and Inflate-a-Bull. Amazing stuff this time around.

SEASON 7: GAMEPLAY

Chapter 2 Season 7 introduces the first new vehicle in four seasons; the Saucer. These UFOs are very fun to pilot and fly around in, with lasers and tractor beams. At the start of the season they were a little overpowered, but overall they've been great to use and fine to fight.

SEASON 7: COSMETICS

Chapter 2 Season 7 has introduced a ton of fresh new cosmetics. There were more collaborations than ever this season, but also a lot of awesome new original outfits.

Some of my favourites have been Doctor Slone and Rick & Morty's Rick Sanchez from the Battle Pass, the FNCS 2:7 skin Major Glory and the GHOST Henchman and SHADOW Henchman duo.

SEASON 7: LIVE EVENT

This season concluded with the Operation: Sky Fire live event, and it was insane. After getting abducted by the Mothership, Slone sent us on an adventure through the massive alien vessel. We saw the return of Kevin the Cube from Chapter 1, and then detonates the bombs littered around the abducted Corny Complex POI, blowing up the Mothership and sending debris hurtling into the Island.

Definitely my favourite live event ever. I think my ranking of the live events now would go:

  1. Operation Sky Fire

  2. Zero Crisis

  3. The Device

  4. The End

  5. The Devourer of Worlds

There was also the Rift Tour live event concert, featuring Ariana Grande and a lot of other artists. It was pretty great!

SEASON 7: ISSUES

The only real issues with Chaper 2 - Season 7 were the overpowered Rail Gun and Saucer at the start of the season. The Cosmic Summer's focus on Creative challenges (and the games they picked for said challenges) has also been a minor issue this season. Apart from those small issues, it's been great!

SEASON 7: CREATIVE

Season 7 brought amazing content for creators to use in Creative Mode, such as (almost) all of the game-changing content in BR's Season 7, along with Season 6's Wildlife and amazing quality-of-life features like Campfires and Real Time Clocks. Another amazing season for Creative.

CONCLUSION

Chapter 2 Season 7 is definitely one of the best seasons of Chapter 2, and a massive improvement over the low point of Season 6. I'm just hoping that Season 8 will be just as good as this one.

SEASON RATING: 9/10

But I guess we'll find out what happens tomorrow. See you then!
